I counted down in LA... randomly. Downtown party... to a party in the hills, to a party @ the roosevelt.



It was the year that I went on the Big Day Out Tour with work. Highlights included Soulwax, M.I.A, Cut Copy,The Mars Volta, Wolfmother.


It was the year that the punisherz put their money where their mouth was at started rehearsing. We played Dj sets first, but it was always about the band. Highlights were: Splendour In the Grass, First show Ever (sept 11), Going on tour with Jump 2 light Speed....


It was the year that I went back to the States for my birthday. LA & NYC. Highlights, Coachella, NYC with Dan (and all those parties). My friends.


It was the year Garth came home. So glad you're home.....xx

I saw it ages ago and I thought it was so beautiful, and now i've seen it online again, and it's eating me away!

In other news, I went to Robbie Williams on Sunday night. You know what? That guy can have any ego he wants i've decided. To have THAT many people all in the palm of your hand is pretty amazing. Two of those stadium shows in every city, I was more amazed by the audience than him though. It was a good show, but the crowd was HUUUUGEEEEE... i don't know the exact numbers for Aussie Stadium, but fuck.

After party: not that great. It was a weird venue... the papers tipped the "secret location" to be Aussie John's 30 Million dollar pad in Point Piper, which I was really excited about, but it wasn't there at all. Same view, but closer, as in IN THE Opera house. Bennelong to be exact. The dance floor was crammed in a narrow space right next to the bar, so if you were waiting to be served you kinda had to dance at the same time, or get knocked over.

Robbie was a no show, his band rocked up, but seriously after a show like that I probably would want to take a few birds back to my room and just hang out there. I don't know what Robbie did though. ha. Most exciting part of the night was me finding a bottle of vodka and walking around with it for a while before it got taken off me.

There was a mix of celebs there, mostly ones from Australian soaps that I don't know their names of. A couple of girls who were dressed like they were from the 90's...as G and I discussed, they were definitely a Vice Don't, but when they started kissing each other, they turned into a Vice Do. I wish I took a photo. There was the drunk vegan (not G) who smashed a champers glass and didnt even notice, and ran to the toilet to have a little spew. Then there was me, vodka stealing non-celebrity spectacular.

So yeah... friday night and I didnt want to go out. Last week was a bit too hectic, and I need to lay down. So I go to a screening of HAPPY FEET with G and get relaxed. Such a cute movie, pretty scary too. It made me want to tap dance all again. I guess when I think about it, It hasn't been that long since i've ripped out a tap routine. It was very cool.

So came home and decided its summer, its party season, im going out. So call Alana, and she's on her way to the Electric party, so I get my kit on and head on over. Its on the same street I live on practically and just a walk home if its devastating. Not that bad when we get there. Phil's band The Lost Gospel played, I told him the punisherz wrote a song about him.... "put your hands up if you're drunk". .... he said.... is it a shit song? And i said yeah... he said.... yeah I hate music... i was like cool we cant play music. So we got that settled. Then, The goons of doom were on, who the punisherz will eternally hate, just coz, and before they went on, they said to me. "This is going to sound really fucked up, because we're all on acid, I said.... you guys sound fucked up all the time... in a bad way!!". Good those fuckers. Goons of Doom. Whatever. You know what, I dont really hate you guys, you're kinda cute, but yeah, you're shitter than the punisherz. And in teh end, you got where you were because of who you know as well. SO we're all on the same kinda team. BUT collectivelly. The punisherz Do hate You. ok? You and TEENAGERS IN TOKYO.

Speaking of asian delights, G and i went asian food shopping before the movie. I was in a sweet mood, and bought all these sweet asian treats. I can't read asian and just looked a pictures, like usual. And anyway, I bought three things. One seaweed noodle item, one chocolate biscuit item, and one pineapple cake thing. I got into G's car and proceeded to taste each thing one by one... (and i nibble things i dont know about, i mean nibble miniscule proportions) and i HATED every single one of them. if any of you would like the left overs, feel free to come over and eat them. They are so sweet and disgusting. I cook good food. you dont need this shit. Hence, dont go shopping when you're hungry.



Anyway. Very drunk now, walked home, took the heels off.... stumbled through the cross to the point for some clean sheet loving, vegemite on turkish and my laptop. And Im happy and home. Goodnight.xxx

REPREZENTTTTTTTTT

This week was soooo hectic. Launched our new studio on Thursday called the Take 40 Live Lounge... Sandi Thom performend and it looked so pretty. You'll be able to see it on the web @ take40.com early next week. She even wanted to take home part of the set, which we gladly gave her, she wanted one of the table lamps. I cant wait to do more shows in there, it's really exciting.


Friday night was the ksubi(tsubi)/modular party. Rocked up with Ash and Sal, and the place was packed and mental. It was like a smarties box where everyone looked the same, but different colours. Some really good bands played like The Ghosts and the Klaxons, also saw a bit of New Young Pony Club. They were cute and cool. The Doof dance area, was on a go kart rink!!! I saw gabe, It was soooo good to see him! I love you. xxx

As if all that wasn't enough, I also put my had up to work on the publicity team for the day @ homebake this year. I was looking after Channel [V] today. Seeing everyone was great! Didn't get to see many bands because I was running around like a mad chook all day, but I did get a few songs in of the Valentino's who were just in Japan with the Presets who I also got to see (their first time back home since Splendour!YAY!), and I got to see the entire Silverchair set. I forgot how much I love these guys. In the third song I found myself crying. It was like old days. Karina, I wish you were there!!! They played freak, and I could feel the side stage floor lifting! It was so incredible.

A few drinks later it was all over, and hunger started to settle in. Jeremy kept trying to cook me a virtual burger, but it wasn't the same. So Claire decided to go steal some chips out of the Hilltop Hoods dressing room. These guys are the biggest Aussie hip hop act and they love the punisherz, so they rock. Anyway, Claire went in stole some chips which all the hoods witnessed, and then she delightfully shared a few with them before she walked away with the entire packet. She then was walking back towards us, then she turned around to the guys, and said.... "Hey guys!..... REPREZENT!!!!!"..... hahahahahaha it was the FUNNIEST thing ever! They were stunned and didnt know how to react, but after about a 2 second pause they all went " heyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!"... hahaha so hilarious. The chips were good, they semi-saved me.




After that we waited for Jade to wrap her shoot and we were outta there. She had to hire a car for the day because her bf took their one, and all that was left at the place was a convertible!!! it was funny. It was pissing down with rain and we piled in and put the roof down!!! On the way to the after party Ducky and I wrote a song called PINGA. That's for you Ducky. I will sing it when we go on tour with you. PINGA PINGA PINGA... hahahahaa.




The after party was fun. Justine came and met us, and I was dancing until I fell over. Jade had to take me home. Now im hungry, because I still didnt get to eat. Im going to have breakfast with claire. REPREZENT.

let it roll....

Summer is on it's way!! Truly felt it today, not heat wise, but at the launch of the V festival. It made me realise... it's festival season! They Announced the pixies, Gnarls barkley, soulwax/2manydj's, groove armada, PHOENIX, Pet Shop boys & the Rapture.... Mercy Arms played at the launch party, they're also playing on it with Aussie freshkids temper trap. Softlightes and bumblebeez are also on the lineup. Mercy Arms sound amazes me no matter what room they are in! I cant wait to see them on a festival stage.... will be different.



It all begins this saturday with Homebake...the great Aussie feast, Then there's Falls (which the punisherz are playing at), heaps of NYE festivals... there's also Meredith, Pyramid rock, Big Day Out, The Great Escape, Good Vibes, Laneways, Blues fest.... goes on and on until April. Then it all stops. Only for a couple of months, and then my favourite Australian festival of the year, Splendour in the Grass, which happens at the end of July... over a beautiful weekend in byron bay. I love festival season, hopefully i'll get to play, work and enjoy some. Hope u do tooooooooo. xx

It's 4am, and im going to simplify things by taking a leaf out of Yumi's book and make a list of all the best things that happened tonight. Sorry for the lack of pciture, my battery was uncharged, perhaps one of my digital camera friends will add photos later.

1. Bats hang out on my balcony, they are cute, and sometimes freak me out. (bat porno in the waiting, for now check out my bird one I made, it's on the punisherz myspace.)
2. Young and Restless are my favourite band. STILL. They kicked tight balls tonight.

5. Getting into a Kings of Leon Party was Ok. Garth got us in, how ironic. Getting kicked out, very easy.

Apparently. I mean, it was the punisherz official running joke, but now it has been confirmed by S (social section in Sun-herald). For those of you that are blind, it's actually me, and I look nothing like Yumi. Although, i'm very very flattered.

Big week

It started on Tuesday. Flew to melbourne to see wolfies at live at the chapel! The last time i saw them with less than 200 people was at the hopetoun! no way I was missing this gig. Spent my day off in melbourne and went shopping around fitzroy with Karina. She is the best... and p.s her band youg and restless who have featured in this blog before just won UNEARTHED! I LOVE THEM!

It started with an exciting thursday. Yes thursday (last thursday). Punisherz were playing that night, we hadn't rehearsed, I had a johnny knoxville and incubus shoot, jimmy was in melbourne, jade had just gotten of a plane, yumi was the only one who had it together. We stuffed the gig up massively. That will teach us not to practice! ha.... Anyway enough about that.


Saturday night we went to franco and marty's halloween party. It was fun! cara was way too drunk, and forgot that she hit me for no reason about 50 times. Luckily garth rocked up, because she started hitting him instead. Big ups to Justine and Christine, for their costumes.... they were the best on ground!!



Sunday. Aria's. I had to work, and then punisherz played at the official after party. Drinking bacardi from the bottle is good. Especially when it's free. There was a bit of a drama before we went on stage, i'll leave that for the documentary, but trust me it's really great drama. You can't write that stuff!! Right after we finished playing and losing my dress then finding it again, I went to the modular party in town. Was good... saw some veronica's and some jesse mccartneys, and of course the ole' modular artists. Somewhere at that party, not only did i lose my mind, I lost my keys. When I got home, Danny had to smash the window to get in. Yeah that was fun, cleaning glass up at 5am. YAY.

WHAT A GOOD WEEK. I had fun. Let's do it all again. NOW NOW NOW.

Oh I forgot! I also went to be in The Scare's new film clip. The theme was oriental disco... who else would they ask to be in? The other punisherz were unavailable for the shoot.

I heart monday's

So much to love about Monday's right now. The highlight is lunch! Every monday G and I go to chinese vegetarian and it super super yum. We get our chilli sweat on and eat loads of tofu and veges. Last week, JT came with us, and he was scared of the goo sloppy goo goo. -But I made him entrust in Mel's ordering, and I came through. Another non-vegetarian turned! I took Cara once and she liked it too. Sal and Glen have also come to the greener side and fallen in love. MMMmmmm Mumma's!

twas a howler of a night.

REAL EVENT DATE: Thursday 20th July 2006

Sorry to keep back tracking, but my friends keep saying, what happened to this night? And why cant you post about that night... so one day (very soon) we'll be back on track. Thursday 20th July.....happened pretty, randomly. The first thing was I got some free tickets to Wolfmother@ the hordern. Who would like to enjoy in this moment with me? JUSTINE! of course... a. She had just scored a new job with Botox (yeah yeah get in line people) b. She loves going to see a band c. When you put J + M (justine and mel) together it = crazytimes.

Something was in the air that night. It kind of started off the with amount of vodkas we kept going back to the bar for. I'm not sure how many we downed before the actualy show, but it was alot, because I was already nicely cruising. And remember, I wasn't working at this point, i'd just kinda left channel [v]. The first band that we saw was those boys from sweden Dungen . They were really amazing, and kind of not watch I expected at all. Heaps of hair in that band.

Then the jackass kids came on to introduce Wolfmother. They were out here doing their joker and the theif video with them. Wolfmother were really good too. I couldn't believe that only like a little under 2 years ago I had seen them at the hopetoun with about 50 other people. The moment that I had that thought, Andrew also voiced the same opinion to the sold out crowd at the hordern. Andrew and Justine were wearing the same jacket with tails that night.... they must have consulted each other before they left. Whatever. ha!

After this we went to the after party at de nom and we walked into the party, and before it had even started, we see bam bam from jackass hauling down one their buddies asses because he was too wasted already. What a crack up. Anyway, I didnt remember this, but Justine said it was free booze. I didn't know that, probably coz I wasn't going to the bar to get drinks, but now i know why I was so happy. :) hahaha.

We spent the night gasbagging to dungen, and they are very lovely lads. They were also heading to splendour in the grass to play that weekend. I remember thinking if this is the start of my weekend, its going to be rad rad rad. hahaha. It was really late in the night and dungen were talking to Andrew, and then whipped out their camera to get some photos. The bar guy told them it was a private party and there was a no camera rule!! HAHAHA WHAT A FUCKING JOKE. It was THEIR bloody party dude! Whatever.... so yeah. I dont have any photos, maybe gus has one. But later in the night like at about 3 this skinny thing in black walks in. It was Nick Zinner!!! ahhh. I forgot the yeah yeah yeahs were also in town doing shows pre-splendour. By this time Justine and I had probably lost a bit of control and were talking shit with nick. I can remeber something about deep fried chicken legs, and him reminding me he was vegetarian. Ok. Well... nick has some photos as well.. he got away with it. I want to see them one day. haha Justine and I were showing off our deep fried chicken legs. (no chicken actually involved, we were calling our legs deep fried chicken legs) hmmm. Ok.

Anyway. By the time I looked at my clock it was friggin 5am!!! What the!! I had to leave this place immediately! So said goodbye and went on my merry way. Justine continued on... justine what did you do?

oh... the band!

So when I got back from LA, it was hardcore band practice time. We had set this date ages ago (when we were just all talk) to do our first gig on September 11. I'm pretty much not going to say anything in this blog about the band, because that's going to ruin it for everyone when you start watching our documentary. Yes, the punisherz have been documented (by the lovely bruce) and it's been the best and worst batch of chinese dim sims from a shady asian canteen.

From our first dj gigs at purple sneakers, to friends parties @ warehouses and houses, to djing @ Splendour in the grass. We loved the dj element, but always knew there was more to us than just pushing play. Splendour in the Grass was a definite highlight on everyone's gig list. We were so fucking scared before we went on, this was the biggest show we played and the tent was crammed. We brought out the asian mail order brides in us, changed in the mainstage backstage area, then trekked through the mud in our gum boots and white bridal outfits. All the kids were off their faces and we were just jumping around getting them even more fired up. A boob fell out (mine) but that was to be expected. It's kind of a running joke in the band now.




Anyway, so after all these dj gigs we started gearing up for the first "live performance".... on september 11. Wasn't that a controversy. But we love it. Or yumi loves it at least, if not the most! haha. Wait till you see our band merch tshirts she designed. Now that is pure gold. Yumi has actually become the official art director in our band. She's responsible for all the flyers and artwork. She's so good at it, i'm really proud of her. Our flyers may be controversial, but you haven't seen that shit before.


The first gig was awsome. so much fun... not as many stuff ups as our gigs to follow. You could say that our gigs have consistently gotten worse over the period of time! HA. But that's all going to change. Jump 2 Light Speed were kind enough to take us on tour. We did brisbane, byron, newie and sydney dates. Pretty lucky for a band who only had their first gig like two weeks before that. That tour was awsome fun, I really want to go on the road with the band again. Hopefully we'll follow our Tokyo dream sometime next year.

young and restless

Young and Restless are the best unsigned band I have seen this year. Karina is like this mega hot asian screaming wonder, leading her band of young men to the slaughter. In a very good way. They're hardcore, with melody and metal with punk. I LOVE IT. Back in June they played at this monster mash party @ Spectrum and G and I decided to get dressed up for the occassion. G was roadkill and i was walking zombie monster.

So right after Coachella, Danielle and I head to NYC. First night we get there we get absolutely smashed catch up with Brendan, and go see this band he's raving on about... cold war kids . I actually really loved these guys they blew me away! Check them out now... their album is out.

After continuous shopping and walking around the city, I get a call from my friend franki saying he's in NYC spinning some tunes at the opening of this new place. I'm at some art exhibition in soho where we've just hooked up with John Martin (who I need to drink with again very soon sometime). JM is the grossest guy I know. Probably sicker than me. AND I LOVE IT. So anyway, we go to this place, and we get there... its a fucking red carpet event. Man... im in my bloody shopping overalls and stinky velvet flats, with a white wifebeater - and there are people lining up in $$$ frocks. What the hell am I doing here! Besides that we get in and it's all sweet thanks to franki and hilary. big love.

I was not prepared for this party at all. Actually that would be my advice for every party. Go unprepared. You're set up for a way better day/night. First sighting. Uma thurman. OK we're in NyC at the opening of something with a red carpet, i might see one celeb. Second sighting. Marilyn Manson & Dita Von teese. Ok... Right about now I down my 5th free vodka to numb the feelings of sweaty overall shopping in the midst of Uma, Marilyn and Dita (who's beauty will save us all - jade did i really text you that? definitely had my 5th vodka by then, then.) Third sighting. Marc Jacobs... Ok. Now i'm really regretting this whole shopping all day don't go back to the hotel to get changed thing. Fourth sighting Jamie foxx.... ok I must admit that all the free vodka and champagne had gotten to me by this time, and I didnt realise it was Jamie until 5 minutes before we left.

We left... went to a club.. not sure which one? I thought john martin was with us, but he swears he didnt come to any club with us after. Danielle doesnt even remember going to a club after. Everyone was at the club trying to talk to me about wolfmother. I was just chasing the next vodka. We ended up at Ben's house (see danielle you couldn't have got to his place without me, so you must have come to the club in the middle of the party and his pad).

Next day we head to friggin' Ruby's to get some vegemite on toast. I go for the bondi burger instead... come on give it to me. I was hungover and felt like home cookin. Not even funny but it's a tiny cafe and I end up sitting right next to Adam Zammit. Gee this world is small... bloody aussies. p.s still in Stinky overalls.

L.A Boys are Better than ours

I am taking a trip down memory lane now... but I really want to post this stuff so I never forget it, until some major computer crash and everyone's blogging memories have gone forvever. Anyway.
LA BOYS ARE BETTER THAN OURS! Just a small observation, so many, so cute, so politie. LA girls may disagree with me, but aren't men always better in a city other than your own?
Went to this Paper magazine party @ the social with my myspace boyfriend( ha! loved to admit it around him since I wasn't in MY hometown....) at the time (never had one since) which was fun, because it was free booze and Alan was there. I hooked up with Alan from my girls Justine and Christine... he was in LA with his band lapping up the scene. He didn't want to leave it, as much as i didnt - maybe more.

Anyway we then proceeded to cinespace. Which for us don't get it wrong is pronounced SIN-E-SPACE. Not SIGN- SPACE.... as I was drunkingly yelling it out around town to disgust of myspace.(boyfriend). God I love saying that, just because I know it would probably raise some eyebrows and bars. TUESDAYS @ cinespace are the maddest parties ever! I had so much fun.... the place is jammed and Steve makes sure the music is dope. Not to mention the live stuff in the back room. Thanks steve for looking after me. I think I wanted to talk to every guy in the room, but I couldn't because the vodka was making my speech a bit slower than usual. To cut a long story short, I did speak to too many guys, forgot about myspace and went to visit the OC right after a party in the hills.

I also got to hang out with my rad friend Gabriel who was also in town... doing his shit, getting homework beats from Snoop, and just generally being the raddest kid in the world. When he rung and asked to hang, i decided against taking him on one of my LA shopping expeditions, and instead we went to six flags. Gabe... where is the footage dude?

When I found out he had never been there I freaked out! Had to make the drive out there it was fun baby, lets do it again soon!

I wish I had started this thing earlier so my memories would be fresh. Oh well better late than never....
Back in March 2006 my friend Jade and I decided to go on a musical expedition. We threw in the towels at work (yes I actually resigned) and rewarded ourselves with a little holiday to a HUGE festival in California called COACHELLA. As word spread that 1/2 of the asian - sensations known as the punisherz were taking this trip, a small group started to evolve. We ended with Martini (who was ending her love affair in new york), Danielle (who was stuck half way through her love affair in Tokyo) and Jed (ongoing love affair with Jade).

So we all eventually met in LA and drove out past palm springs in a big SVU or is it SUV? I never get it right, whilst I educated our small group to the sounds of Mickey Avalon. (the whole way, I had other cd's but none of them turned the tricks like mickey). By the end of it, I can probably safely say that NO ONE was sick of him, because still to this day (it's october now) we still think it's fucking incredible.

We pull up to the la quinta day spa and resort only to find that half the Aussie music industry population is also staying in the same place. It was AWESOMELY HOT! The heat is incredible! Aussie summer festivals have NOTHING on the heat @ coachella. That shit is unbelievable and I loved EVERY STINKING HOT SECOND OF IT!!! It was straight into the pool before anything! And some cocktails. mmmmmmm la quinta! take me back....
